The World Travel Media Guild (WTMG) is pleased to announce that our next event will take members to the ancient and historic cities of Novgorod the Great ( Veliky Novgorod) and St. Petersburg.

One of the oldest cities in Russia, Veliky Novgorod is located in the north-west near the Volkhov River and Lake Ilmen. Its history is inextricably linked with all the most important stages of the life of the Russian state and is considered by many to be the historic heart and soul of Russia and the Russian people. Veliky Novgorod is the birthplace of Russian republican traditions and an important spiritual stronghold of Orthodox Russia.

Highlights of the trip will include a tour of the Novgorod Kremlin, the cathedral of St. Sophia and a visit to Yaroslav’s Court.

Among other stops will be visits to Staraya, Lubitino and Valdai.

In the St. Petersburg region we will visit Gatchina City, The Great Gatchina Palace, Rozhdestveno Memorial Estate and meet with the travel/tourism administration of Leningradskaya Obl.

Below is the full program along with links to background information and interesting facts about the many places we will see on this tour.

As always, there is no charge (except for airfare to and from St. Petersburg and cost of visa) for registered members of the World Travel Media Guild (WTMG) who are in good standing. The trip includes: transfers from airport, transportation, accommodation, meals and excursions.

NOTE: By attending to event, participants are obligated to publish at least one article about destinations in Novgorod the Great and Saint Petersburg Region within three months after the tour. After three months, the WTMG will present the summary and copies of published articles to our hosts, the Travel Administration of Novgorod the Great and the Saint Petersburg Region Government.
